Thunder Bay Museum
The Thunder Bay Historical Museum Society was created in 1908 to preserve and interpret the history of Northwestern Ontario through exhibitions, lectures, publications, the erection of monuments and plaques, and the preservation of documents. Now, more than 100 years later, the Thunder Bay Museum is housed in a beautiful historic building which once served as a police station and court house and offers visitors seven galleries of local, regional and national heritage, an extensive research library, and an archives. The collection presently includes some 30,000 artifacts, 400 feet of archival records, 500,000 photographic images, and over 2,000 books.
